Usenet Storm is not accepting new premium sign ups due to issues with PayPal. They were previously using PayPal as their payment processor and are now seeking an alternative. Those who are interested in web based Usenet access have other options in the meantime. Usenet Storm recommends Easynews and we agree. Easynews members enjoy a full featured web interface and NNTP Usenet access from $9.98 a month.
We’ve had the opportunity to test Usenet Storm and enjoyed the service. It’s different than Easynews. Usenet Storm has a simplified web interface. You upload an nzb file and let the service download the associated content. Where Easynews offers more traditional newsreader functionality inside your web browser. Search for Usenet content, preview and download from within your browser. Third party developers also have iPhone and Android apps for Easynews. Our favorite is the EZ Global Search app for iOS devices.
We’re not sure when Usenet Storm will reopen for business. It depends on how long it takes to find a new payment processor for the service. In the meantime you can check out Easynews with a two week free trial or compare traditional Usenet providers offering unlimited NNTP newsgroup access for under $10 a month.
