A couple months ago we noticed that a newly launched service, Bitusenet, was focusing on Bitcoin Usenet payments. Now it looks like Hitnews has joined in as well. While Bitusenet only offers Bitcoin, Hitnews has a number of other payment options including iDeal, bank transfer and credit card. Hitnews is the first established Usenet provider we’ve seen add Bitcoin payments. It will be interesting to see if other companies join in as well.
Would you pay for newsgroup access with Bitcoin? We posed that question to our friends at DSL Reports. Please join the discussion and let us know your thoughts on the use of Bitcoin. There are also a number of VPN services that offer Bitcoin as a payment option. It seems to be catching steam in the VPN industry where privacy and anonymity are key goals. With companies like Private Internet Access, HideMyNet, VersaVPN, AirVPN, BeeVPN and a few more recently adding Bitcoin payment options.
Hitnews has a wide range of Usenet accounts including speed capped (2.5 Mbit to 120 Mbit), and nighttime plans. All of which show the price in Euros. You can pay with Bitcoin or use one of their other options which include credit card, iDeal and bank transfer. If you go with Bitcoin let us know if the experience is smooth. We’ll gladly share the experience so others can know what to expect when paying for Hitnews with Bitcoin.
